Revelation Chapter 11 Part 9

Rev 10:7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
As we continue our study of Rev 11 we take another week understanding the setting of the chapter. The Lord is faithful as he opens up his word to those who dillegently seek him. Praise the living God.

  1. Thank you dear brothers for all of your studies in His Word. “Thy Kingdom Come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” How beautifully our Lord sums it up. May these prayers cover the earth, and to God be all the Glory.

  2. Gentlemen,

I awakened in the middle of the night, not able to sleep. I started praying and meditating on my studies. A few things came to me and one is the little book that you have been recently discussing. I will mention what came to me, as maybe it will help a little bit towards the puzzle or maybe not.

    Revelation 10

Rev 10:2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,

Rev 10:4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

Rev 10:8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.

Rev 10:9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.

Rev 10:10 And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.

The little book open ….. is the WORD, the written Word from the beginning. John was about to write what he heard as this was knowledge from the foundations of the earth from beginning to end. He was told not to write that this must be sealed. John received the written Word which is of God, upon receiving it first in his mouth it tasted sweet as honey, like when we first taste of His Word as a new born again child of God, but as we start to digest His truth we too feel this indignation and piercing. It makes us sick inside, bringing true repentance from the heart. This little book is what we call today our Bible.

    Bitter G4087
From G4089; to embitter (literally or figuratively): – be (make) bitter.
Perhaps from G4078 (((((( (through the idea of piercing); sharp (pungent),)))))) that is, acrid (literally or figuratively): – bitter.

Rev 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Rev 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Rev 10:11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings. (((This is what has taken place for the last 2000 years.)))

Rev 10:6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, (((((( that there should be time no longer: )))))) We are at the final home stretch.

  3. For some time I have thought that “the seven thunders” are not events, but rather, the saints. Looking at Rev 10:3-4, it reads:

And cried with a loud voice, as [when] a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices. And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

Notice that the thunders “uttered their voices”. It would have to be a being to speak. Christ, himself is mentioned as “a great thunder”, where we read at Rev 14:2:

And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:

Further, consider that at Mar 3:17, two of the disciples where described as “thunders”:

And James the [son] of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:

I believe that the identity of these Christians is hidden because of the mercy of the Lord. If the world knew who they were, the saints would be hunted down and killed before they would even have a chance to be sealed. This is also why the time of the Second Coming will remain unknown till the time of the end. The followers of Satan would try to prevent that too if they could; but, of course they can’t.

    • Good point John about the seven thunders not being events, but rather the saints.

  4. Pro 24:13 My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:
Pro 24:14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Pro 27:7 The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.

May the Lord increase our faith daily. Keep feeding the sheep. You all are in my prayers.

    Brother Ashley
